Gladwin County is located in the northeast central section of Michigan’s lower peninsula, just southeast of Roscommon County and is directly east of Clare County. This beautiful North Central Michigan area offers recreational and economic opportunities in a friendly, rural setting. Our many lakes, rivers, forests, and recreational facilities provide an abundance of opportunities for both business and family.
Gladwin County’s economy includes auto parts manufacturing, thermoforming, RV manufacturing, wood products, construction, and agriculture. Tourism plays a special role in Gladwin County’s waterways, with several dams on the Tittabawassee, Sugar, Tobacco, and Cedar Rivers creating opportunities for boating, fishing, canoeing, and sightseeing. The Tittabawassee State Forest to the east, almost a fourth of the entire county, offers plenty of opportunity for hiking, hunting, and snowmobiling. This area also includes a large 35,000-acre game preserve, the Gladwin Game Refuge, in the Northern part of the County.
The cities of Gladwin and Beaverton are our largest within the county. Both consist of vibrant communities, with a friendly small-town atmosphere, offering year-round events. There are also many playgrounds located in the many city parks in Beaverton and Gladwin where kids will become exhausted from the play time they will enjoy. Beaverton’s Ross Lake Park has a new Rotary Splash Park available for kids to have some summer fun in the hot sun. Another very special section of Gladwin County is Sugar Springs. Located in north central Michigan, Sugar Springs is a community of homes and improved and undeveloped lots nestled in over 4,000 acres of unspoiled scenery. A convenient drive from most Michigan locales, our community offers an abundance of four-season recreational and social activities. Sugar Springs is a Property Owners Association (POA) community governed by a set of Bylaws and Covenants.
